JEE Main 2014


JEE Main 2014 would be conducted by CBSE to give admissions to candidates in the engineering courses for session 2014-15. It’s the largest entrance examination of India which would be attempted by nearly 13 Lakh candidates. The exam would be conducted in online as well as offline mode. The process of application form has been made completely online this year and no offline/physical form would be made available to candidates. Odisha, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh would also consider JEE Main 2014 score for admissions into respective states. OJEE, MT CET, GJ CET, MP PET has been scrapped and now all of these states would conduct counselling based on JEE Main 2014 AIR.

JEE Main 2014 is the first stage of entrance examination, it will provide admissions into centrally funded technical institutes (CFTI), self funded technical institutes (SFTI), Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), National Technical Institute (NIT). JEE Advanced 2014 is the second and final stage of JEE, it will provide admissions into Indian Institute of Technology and other premier engineering institutes of the country.


JEE Main 2014 will see the continued trend of normalization method where candidates would be selected on the basis of 60:40 ration technique i.e. 60% will be considered from JEE Main 2014 score and 40% will be considered from Class XII marks.


The process of JEE Main 2014 Application Form is totally online where candidates have to follow all the steps online on the official website of JEE (www.jeemain.nic.in). Starting right from information briefing, candidates have to upload scanned images of their photograph, signature and thumb impression on the form, in correct resolution and dimensions obviously. Also, candidates need not send any document to JEE office for verification.

 

The process of form filling and submission can be done from 15 November 2013 to 26 December 2013. Candidates must note that they can remit the fee for application form in two ways, online and offline. Online method includes payment of fees via credit or debit card, for which they would be charged overhead. Another method is offline method, which involves downloading and depositing the bank challan in the branches of Canara Bank, Syndicate Bank and ICICI Bank. Without remitting the fee, application form would be taken as void and illegitimate entry.


Before proceeding to fill the application form, candidates are suggested to read the eligibility criteria first of all. It mentions all the terms that define a candidate’s validity.


Candidate must have passed Class XII (or equivalent) in 2012 or 2013 with minimum 50%.

Date of birth limit: 1 October 1989 (1984 for SC, ST and PwD).

Maximum three attempts are allowed per person.

Subject combinations: Any five with Physics and Math as compulsory subjects.
